Positive

In last week’s weekly dose of mental sunshine, I told you about the word cloud I keep close to my desk to keep me motivated.

Today I want to look at a different word:

POSITIVE.

How can you be more positive in your life?

Well, the answer is both simple and difficult.

The fact is that our brains do what we train them to do.

But we are at a slight disadvantage.

Humans have evolved to naturally look out for danger.

Back in the days of early humans, we needed to be vigilant and ready to run and hide from danger.

That is still the default for lots of us – so we automatically notice the negative, the perceived threats and so on.

The good news is that we can train our brains to be more positive, by looking for the positive things in life.

By making an effort to find something positive in each moment, we can learn to feel more positive in our daily life.

A good way of doing this is keeping a journal where, at the end of each day, you write down as many positives about the day as you can think of.

You could look for positive quotes

Or you could commit to posting something positive on social media each day.

Think Positive – What’s the very best that can happen?

The key is in training your brain to search out something positive, even from the most challenging situation.

This great daily practice can quickly make a difference in how positive you feel.

One phrase that I always think to myself is “What’s the very best that can happen…?”

What will you do or say to train your brain to see the positives?
