As Soon As You Confirm Your Headshot Shoot
Book an appointment with your hairdressers.
We'd also recommend booking a session with your dental hygienist to give your teeth that all important sparkle.
Start to think about what you are going to wear. If in doubt you should consider making an appointment with a professional image consultant (we are happy to recommend a few names).
If you'd like to book a professional make up artist this needs to be done now too.
Also be on the look-out for any professional headshot photos in magazines etc that attract your attention. You can bring these along to your session as it will give us some great starting point ideas.
Countdown to your shoot: One week to go
On the week leading up to your shoot you should make sure that your clothes have been pressed and hung up on a coat hanger to air and get rid of any creases. It is also worth having a dress rehearsal to make sure the clothes you bring still fit you well with a little room for manoeuvrability. A shopping trip may be needed to (remember to keep the tags on and you can return after the shoot if you don't like...)
Countdown to your shoot: The Day Before
If you are travelling to the studio check where you are going and how long it will take you to get there. Print off our PDF map which also has our contact details should you be running late or get lost and need to call us.
Print off our Headshot Essentials: What to bring checklist and lay out everything you need to bring. don't forget any product props you would like to be photographed with such as CD’s DVD’s or a copy of your book.
Countdown to your shoot: The Evening Before
Drink plenty of water before your session. Hydrated skin looks much healthier than dry skin. Try to avoid too much alcohol and fatty foods and aim to get a good nights sleep. I know this isn't always the easiest thing to do, but it's really important as the more rested you are, the better you'll look.
Countdown to your shoot: On The Day
Plan to arrive at the studio least 15 mins before your shoot so you have time to relax and gather your thoughts. Don’t panic if you get caught up in traffic or running late, just give us a quick call if you can and we will reassure you. The last thing we want is for you to arrive all hot and bothered. If we are coming to you try to avoid book-ending your session with any stressful meetings. Again keep hydrated with water and try not to drink too much coffee.
And Relax...
We want you to be relaxed and in the best possible space for your headshot shoot so we can concentrate on lighting you up and capturing the very best ever images you’ve ever had taken.
