How is your year going so far?
I know January can often feel like a long month – especially after a long festive break
At times like this it’s more important than ever to look for some mental sunshine to try and brighten the day whenever possible.
Which brings me onto this week’s tip:
Be creative.
Children are naturally creative.
They draw, dance, sing, make things without stopping to consider whether they are “good” at it.
They enjoy the process of creating.
As adults we often seem to lose sight of this.
So many people say they’re “no good” at drawing or other creative pursuits – but really, who defines what “good” even is?
More importantly: if you enjoy doing it, who cares what anyone else thinks of the end result?
You don’t need to show it to anyone; you can just do it for the joy of doing it.
Creating something can feel incredibly rewarding,
Especially at the end of the process where there’s a real sense of achievement when you’ve completed it.
Just lately I’ve been working on updating and tweaking all the pages my new website.
There’s been a lot of work involved – especially getting all of the content and images resized and uploaded (including uploading over 85 previous mental sunshine posts which you can now see all together here).
I’ve found that by concentrating on something that you enjoy, it’s been a really enjoyable process and the time has just flown by.
Plus I’m really chuffed with the finished result,
It’s inspired me to keep on being creative and hopefully will inspire you to create something too.
Let me know how you get on…
