In the wake Andy Murray’s brilliant achievement by winning Wimbledon this week I thought I’d dig out a couple of images that I’ve taken of him over the years.
The first couple are from a headshot shoot which was done on behalf of David Lloyd, one of of his sponsors at the time, and was taken shortly after one of his first fashion shoots. What I liked most about this shoot was that Andy was wearing a nice clean shaven look, unlike every other time I’d photographed him when he had some sort of facial hair going on, either through lack of shaving or just that he liked the rough look… Several people commented at the time on how good he looked like this and I have to agree. This was a simple set up within the doorway where the light was soft and even and falling off in the background and I shot with a wide aperture to reduce the attention to the branded logos and to keep them more subtle.
I aslo had the fortune of photographing Andy Murray during the Wimbledon Championships and loved watching him play. He was always very animated on court and I particularly liked this celebration shot after he won a match on Centre Court in 2006.
I was so pleased to see him make history and win Wimbledon on Sunday against Novac Djokovic and break British Tennis’ 77 year drought.
