My Experience with The Headshot Guy
I’m a little bit of a hypocrite, I tell my friends they’re being silly when they point out their flaws and imperfections but secretly I’m obsessing over mine! So it’s no wonder that when the time came to have my professional headshot taken I was pretty much bricking it!
If I’m being 100% honest with myself (and whoever may be reading this) I’m really not comfortable with the way that I look. I don’t recall a time when I ever have been and I have a lot of doubts as to whether or not I ever will be. Not an ideal mind frame when you’re about to start your shoot.
So… Headshot time! When I first stepped in front of the camera I became extremely tense, I could feel myself becoming more and more uncomfortable. For John, I must have looked like a deer caught in headlights – a sight he later assured me he’s used to.
The start of my shoot was daunting, nerve-wracking and a little awkward – I was unsure of how to hold myself, where to look and what expressions I should be portraying. I’m having my headshot taken so I can display it online for the whole worldwide web to see. I was about 5 minutes in or so when I had a slight epiphany! It suddenly occurred to me that it’s in John’s best interested (as well as mine) to capture a great photo, after all this is the trade that he’s in.
The way I see it, John has a gift. He has a way of putting people at ease that I’ve seldom 
encountered before. I began to trust him more and more as the shoot went on, trusting to capture a great shot of me and to be looking past my flaws. His bright and infectious persona mixed with his quirky one liners made it impossible for me to not crack a smile – and a real genuine one at that.
My experience with The Headshot Guy turned out to be great and one I won’t forget in a hurry. It takes a real type of person to make you feel so relaxed so quickly. Less than a week on I received the photos he had taken and now it’s just a matter of picking one!
