How has your 2024 been overall?
I think for most of us, when we’re asked this question we’ll either default to “yeah, it’s been ok…” or we might list off some of the big things that have happened – usually the bad ones!
Our brains are designed to look for threats to be avoided, in order to keep us alive.
But that means we can have a bit of a negative bias when it comes to thinking about our lives – because we pick out the negative things.
On the other hand, making an effort to focus on the positive things that have happened in our lives can help us to feel more positive.
We can train our brains to seek out the positive.
A regular practice of gratitude can help us to feel more grateful and positive over all.
With the end of the year hurtling towards us, I thought now might be a good time to reflect on the year so far – but focusing on the positive.
What are the top things that have happened for you this year?
Some of mine are…
- Celebrating 4 years with no alcohol
- Seeing our daughter settled in and doing well at Italia Conti Drama School
- Celebrating my daughter’s 18th and my 60th Birthday
- Swimming an Ice K – 1000 meters in 3.8 degrees last weekend (swimming an Ice Mile is my goal for winter 2025…)
