The days are getting shorter and darker
And for a lot of people that can really affect their mood.
When there’s less literal sunshine, it can feel like we have less mental sunshine available to us.
For many of us, we’ll soon be leaving for work, and coming home, in the dark.
That can really affect our mood – but we often don’t realise that’s what’s causing us to feel a bit rubbish.
For this week’s Mental Sunshine, my suggestion is to make a daily appointment with the sun.
That doesn’t mean stripping off and sunbathing!
It just means making a mental note to get outside in daylight at some point every day.
You could go for a short walk, or combine this with last week’s tip and spend ten minutes in the garden as the sun comes up
To double up on the good feeling, you could combine it with some social interaction
Meet a friend for a walk around the block
Grab a coffee and sit outside, weather permitting!
This time of year can feel grey and miserable;
Getting outside into the sunlight for a few minutes every day can help us to feel a little brighter.
