Love it or loathe it, having a photograph of yourself has become a “must-have” asset in business. We like to know who we are dealing with, and what they look like. But many people shy away from having their picture taken. They complain they are not “photogenic” or “never look good in a photo.”
Yet it’s a crazy idea that some people are “photogenic” and others are not. After all, it’s not as if those who don’t like having their picture taken are all unattractive. Far from it! They are every bit as gorgeous as those who love the camera. The difference is in attitude – and the photographer. A good photographer brings out the best in their subject, and will always come out with a good photograph. That’s not to say that all the photographs will be great, but then not all photographs of Kate Moss are great either. But we forget that in our angst about how much we hate the camera!
So if you are someone who thinks the camera is an instrument of torture designed to show our most unflattering site, think again. Find a sympathetic, professional photographer who knows how to bring out the best in you. Although your significant other loves you to bits they often don’t have the patience to capture that spark that creates a memorable image. Remember, too, that even the most beautiful celebrities have dreadful photographs taken of them. It doesn’t make them unattractive, it just means they got caught with the wrong expression or not quite ready for their close-up…
So change your attitude, and realise that the camera loves everyone equally. We just need to show it our best side. And find a skilled photographer who knows how to bring out the very best you. It doesn’t take a genius to know who I’d recommend!
