Say YES!

In last week’s email we talked about saying NO more to the things that don’t bring Mental Sunshine into your life.

Today, I want to suggest that you say YES more!

I know you’re probably thinking this will contradict everything I said last week

But what I mean here is that we should try saying yes to things that have the potential to bring us Mental Sunshine

You might think, don’t be ridiculous; I always say yes to the things I enjoy

But stop and think for a moment…

How often do friends invite you to join them for drinks or dinner, but you’re feeling a bit tired so you respectfully decline?

Has there been a time when you’ve been asked to do something a little outside your comfort zone, and you’ve said no?

Perhaps you were asked to speak at a meeting or function, and it terrified you so you turned down the opportunity

It’s really easy to just say no to things because they seem like they might be a little uncomfortable or take too much time or maybe we’ll be a bit tired afterwards

Or it’s on a Thursday and there’s that TV show on a Thursday that we really like to watch…

That’s your comfort zone making excuses!

It’s good for us to have a change of pace from time to time.

To try new things, meet new people, go to new places

Saying YES more doesn’t have to be big things either

It could be saying yes to trying the new coffee blend at our local cafe!

Saying YES more can expose us to new opportunities and experiences

And yes, some of those might be things we decide we don’t want to try again

But we also might think: I’m glad I said yes to this!

Try it today: next time you see an opportunity to say YES, take it!

I’d love to hear about your experiences with this one!
