The big day is almost upon us – this time next week it will be Christmas Day!
I will be taking a break over Christmas, so your next dose of Mental Sunshine will be in the new year.
I think it’s important to take a proper break and really just chill out over Christmas.
You might have family commitments, travelling to do, things to sort out.
You might have to work…
Whatever you do, I hope you are also able to find some moments of calm for yourself.
At this time of year most businesses either close down completely or are open with reduced hours.
So it’s a good time to take advantage of that, and to get some rest ourselves.
That might be two days over Christmas; it might be two weeks over the school holidays
Even if the most you can find is a few hours to yourself, I hope you’re able to use that time to your advantage
… and by using the time to your advantage, I don’t necessarily mean doom scrolling whilst scarfing down a box of Quality Street!
If you find yourself with some downtime, try to use that time to do something you know will uplift you, brighten your mood a little
You could take a walk in nature, sing, dance, or have an engaging chat with a friend or family member.
And if you do have more time off for the festive season, you can find other ways to connect with the world around you and enjoy some real rest.
Whatever you are up to this festive season, I hope there is plenty of mental sunshine for you.
Have a very Merry Christmas – and I’ll be back in the new year to bring you some more ways to brighten your day.
I know not everyone celebrates Christmas;
I hope that whatever your beliefs, you are able to take a break and relax a little.
