I saw a great question on LinkedIn recently: “What did the work help the client achieve, change or sell?”
It stopped me in my tracks. When a firm books a team headshot day, they’re not really buying photos. They’re buying what those photos do for them. So here’s my honest answer, from 18 years of photographing teams.
What it helps them achieve
A brand that looks as good as their work. Most firms spend serious money on their website, pitch decks and office. Then the team page is a mix of holiday snaps, cropped wedding photos and a few faces that left two years ago.
Consistent headshots fix that. Same light, same background, same feel. The whole team looks like a team.
And it builds trust before the first meeting. People buy from people. When a client can see a warm, approachable face, the first call already feels a little easier.

What it helps them change
From “we’ll sort the photos sometime” to sorted. One quick, well-run day and everyone’s done, with nobody away from their desk for long.
From dreading the camera to actually liking the photo. Most people tell me they hate having their picture taken. My job is to make it quick, relaxed and even a bit of fun. When someone likes their photo, they use it on LinkedIn, in their email signature and on Teams. When they don’t, it stays in a folder.
From a look that slowly drifts to one that stays consistent. New starters come to my weekly studio day, so their photo matches the rest of the team from day one.
What it helps them sell
Their people. In professional services the team is the product. Lawyers, accountants, consultants, recruiters: clients are choosing who they’ll work with, and they look at faces before they pick up the phone.
Their credibility. Tenders, proposals, award entries and speaker bios all land better with a strong, professional photo next to the name.
Their employer brand. Good photos on the careers page and LinkedIn show candidates a business that takes its people seriously. That helps with hiring too.
The short version
We help firms look as good as they are, so clients trust their people before they’ve even met them.
