For this week’s Mental Sunshine I wanted to show you this stone I found recently in the Lake District.
This is a really sad story of a young mum dying – but I really love the way her sister has tried to make something positive from a tragedy.
These rocks have been painted with positive, happy designs and left in bags with a note all over the place.
The people who find them then move them to a new location, and send a photo to Kini’s family.
The website Kini’s Rocks keeps track of the rocks, where they’ve been found – and where they’ve been taken to.
There are rocks all over the world!
What a great way to keep Kini’s memory alive, and also to brighten the day of anyone who finds one.
Obviously, this project is something you can only join in with if you find one of Kini’s Rocks
But there’s nothing to stop you painting your own Kindness Rocks and leaving them in public places locally to you for others to find.
I love the idea of painting a rock with a positive message or picture, and leaving it at a bus stop, or on a fence somewhere.
An unexpected moment of joy for the person who finds it
And they can then re-hide it, spreading joy onto the next person.
There might even be a Kindness Rocks Facebook group local to you where you can share rocks you’ve found and re-hidden.
