Clouds will Pass

How is your January going so far?

I send out these Mental Sunshine emails each week because I know that from time to time, we all find things a bit difficult.

We all have days where the weather in our heads is a bit cloudy… or worse.

The idea with these emails is to help you to brighten your mood – to bring more mental sunshine into your life.

And to remind you that the clouds will pass!

You know at this time of year, when it’s been rainy and grey for several days… it feels like it’s always been like this, and it always will be like this

We forget that the sun is up there, above the clouds.

We forget that one day soon, we’ll have one of those beautiful, crisp and clear winter days where the sun shines and everything looks better.

We forget that in a few short weeks it’ll be spring – and then summer.

The same is often true for the weather in our heads – we wake up feeling rubbish; we adopt the mentality that everything is just rubbish.

We forget that yesterday we had an enjoyable chat with a friend and that next week we have tickets for a film we really want to see.

These weekly emails are an attempt to help you to shift the weather a little in your own head

But also a reminder – this too shall pass!

And you don’t even need to wait until tomorrow for the clouds to clear

Unlike the weather outside, we can do things to change the weather in our heads.

We have the capacity to do something to brighten our moods.

Sometimes it doesn’t work – but sometimes it does!

So it’s worth a try, right?

What have you done lately to try and brighten your mental sunshine?
