Business events are a powerful tool, even more so now with the number of social media platforms that we post on whilst attending these events. Even when you are unable to make an event you can still keep up to date with the goings on via a hashtag or user profile. This means a great deal more exposure for the event, it’s organisers, it’s speakers, it’s stalls and it’s delegates.
I love attending events as either a speaker or with my headshot stall because of the vast variety of people that I get to meet. Not only do I get paid to be there but also I am able to meet really interesting people which may make for good business connections. From having my stall at events and conferences I also seem to get an increase in business, after people see the standard of work that is produced lots of people ask about me coming to their own events or booking studio headshot sessions.
When I’m at events I always make sure that I know what the event hashtag is and tweet throughout the day. I may be quoting speakers or sharing information about other stalls or reminding people that they can get their free headshot taken with me, but by including the event hashtag it means that anyone that is looking up the event on Twitter is likely to come across your content. Whether these users are attending or not this is great exposure and a huge benefit as it allows you to effortlessly increase your organic reach.
